Playing for Change
I found this really great site today through Digital Video class today – Playing for Change. For me, this isn’t just one of those sites that you visit for fun. I believe in their cause, with my whole heart. Just listening to the music that these artists from all over the world create without even meeting each other gives me chicken skin. It shows me that music really can cross all those boundaries and all the distances. All of these different cultures, interweaving their instruments – whether it be voice, guitar, drums, etc. – creating one song, or many different songs, for that matter.
The site explains the inspiration, production and effect of this multimedia movement.
“Playing for Change is a multimedia movement created to inspire, connect, and bring peace to the world through music. The idea for this project arose from a common belief that music has the power to break down boundaries and overcome distances between people. No matter whether people come from different geographic, political, economic, spiritual or ideological backgrounds, music has the universal power to transcend and unite us as one human race. And with this truth firmly fixed in our minds, we set out to share it with the world.”
I’ve always loved music. It played a very important part in my life during middle school and high school. I was in my high school’s marching band. Trust me, it was a HUGE thing for me, music was a huge thing for me. For me, music is the song that touches all hearts, all souls. So Playing for Change really tugs at my heartstrings, I’m so glad I found it.
Look it up, enjoy the music.
